Description
This Hilya is a traditional Ottoman art form, consisting of Arabic calligraphy that presents a detailed description of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah honor his face). In this piece, I used Maghrebi script, poster colors, gold leaf, and ink. The Hilya is beautifully adorned with Roman and botanical motifs, and I applied special aging techniques to evoke a sense of antiquity. It is presented within a wide golden frame and protected by a transparent acrylic cover.
