Nothing can cure a child’s soul like a mother’s powerful love. I chose the title “স্নেহের আলো” (Light of Affection) because it reflects the core themes of care, maternal love, and emotional connection that this painting seeks to convey. Inspired by my profound bond with my mother, this artwork tells the story of the unbreakable tie between a mother and her child. The piece symbolizes the emotional and physical journey of motherhood—her pain during childbirth, the attachment formed during pregnancy, and the comfort she brings throughout life. A mother is like a guiding light, always present, always nurturing. The womb is depicted to express the intimate relationship formed even before birth, offering a sense of security and warmth that shapes the foundation of trust and love. I used a warm and delicate color palette—yellows, blues, and whites—drawing inspiration from Van Gogh’s The Starry Night to create a tranquil, dreamlike environment. These colors symbolize a mother’s aspirations: a future filled with happiness, peace, and love for her child. The umbilical cord in the painting represents how a mother’s affection guides and supports her child throughout life. I painted this piece on canvas with acrylics, a medium I’m deeply familiar with. The canvas allows for expressive strokes, layering, and texture, enhancing the visual depth—especially noticeable in the womb area and upper body. Its durability also ensures that the message of this painting will endure over time. Ultimately, “স্নেহের আলো” is a tribute to the strength of maternal love, the sacred bond formed in the womb, and the enduring hope and dreams every mother holds for her child.
