Care accompanies a person throughout life. Through care, one realizes their own being. Often, we don’t recognize that our care is directed not only at ourselves but at the world around us. Care supports the unity of humanity and drives its growth. What we do for ourselves—what we nurture, protect, and strive for—inevitably shapes the future through our children and those who follow us. Viewed pedagogically, care is an educational process. It nurtures self-respect, a responsible worldview, and an active life position in young people. Yet one cannot educate others without first educating oneself. Since ancient times, self-care has been central to moral education—forming the basis of the teacher-student relationship. Self-care manifests in many forms, but spiritual growth is its most essential aspect. Wealth, success, and fame are temporary; the soul and heart matter more. Through prayer, scripture, acts of mercy, and inner reflection, a person prepares for eternal life and strengthens the soul. This is a sacred duty—not only to oneself but to one's children. By learning to care for our own soul, we learn how to teach it to the next generation. Taking care of oneself lays the foundation for the spiritual and intellectual growth of others. Children may not always listen to words, but they see actions. They observe our choices, feel our intentions, and follow our example. That’s why it's vital to ask: What are we teaching through how we live? Care for the self is care for the future. Whether teacher or student, parent or child, we must recognize that in nurturing ourselves, we prepare not only for eternal life—but also model the path for those who come after us. Our care becomes their foundation.
