Medium: Oil and Acyrlic on Canvas. Description: Painted with the feet, and the canvas laid on the earth, this work is created following a series of meditations and breath work practices. The intention is for the body to enter a state of automatism, in which intuitive gestures emerge, tracing the elements of the land. In this moment of ritual the body becomes plastic, bound to its environment and governed by the divine, transforming the canvas into a liminal site of prayer. In this moment of self annihilation (Fana) care is embodied not only as healing but as radical presence - a desire to belong to the world, to be shaped by it, and in turn shape it; honouring the self as an emergent property of ones divine environment. Held within this act of becoming-with the earth, lies an aspiration towards unity: one where the sacred is not above or beyond, but folded into every breath, every step, every mark.
