About the creator
- I have been producing Art for over 45 years now .. like other artists, my work has changed and evolved during those long years to mirror the state of mind I had during each period of my life. I have experimented in most mediums and styles because I did not receive any Academic Art education, therefore it was trial and errors for me throughout my life .. I actually enjoy it this way as the result is often a surprise to me which makes it more interesting. Lately, most of my work is in Pen & Ink. It is much more comfortable and easy on my old knees to work sitting down instead of standing in front of a large canvas .. but again , I do get the urge every now and then to work on large Oil or Acrylic canvases. Art for me is a way of life, it is my refuge and my escape.
Education
Adel is An Iraqi/Egyptian/American Artist who was born in Alexandria, 1957. Graduated as a Cartographer from the University of Alexandria, and then migrated to the USA right after graduation. Obtained a Master’s degree in graphic design from Southern California.
Exhibitions
Adel has been producing Art since his childhood, after graduating, he started painting professionally and has tens of group and solo exhibitions under his belt in North America and now in Egypt. After returning to Egypt in 2013, Adel took his birth city as the base for his studio. Adel’s Paintings and drawings are, well collected globally by Art lovers. His work hangs on walls in both private estates and corporation in the USA, Europe, the Middle east and Egypt. Adel’s canvas work is mostly Abstract/Expressionism, he also produces drawings on paper, which often reflects the diversity of his own background, mixed with the contemporary effects of Western Art.
Galleries
His work is displayed and can be seen in a number of galleries in Cairo. In addition to his canvas paintings, Adel has worked extensively on painting on old furniture and also published an Arabic novel (رحلة في زمن المشيب) which has allot to do with his own background and work as an Artist.
