About the creator
- Anastasie Akibode, a French artist with African roots from Cape Verde, Benin, and Senegal, draws inspiration from her diverse cultural heritage in her pursuit of a universal art style. With a background in electrical engineering, Anastasie spent many years in corporate roles with leading companies before moving to Dubai in 2005, where she transitioned into a full-time artist, captivated by the region’s beauty and spirit. She was awarded by the Dubai Art Center in 2013 and further honed her craft through education at Tashkeel in Dubai, the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and workshops at the Manatee Art Centre in Florida. In April 2021, she held her debut solo exhibition, "Artistic Wired Energies," at the Alliance Française Dubai. In 2022, Anastasie was chosen to represent her country in the Cabo Verde and Angola Pavilion at Expo 2020. Her work has been featured in prominent art catalogues and newspapers. Alongside her artistic achievements, Anastasie is passionate about public speaking and has served as the President of a Toastmasters Club in Dubai, earning awards for her speeches and leadership. She has also acted as the MC at several high-profile events, including the Women Pavilion at Expo 2020.

Anastasie Akibode enriched her artistic foundation through a series of prestigious Summer Schools at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, attending specialized programs in Drawing (2017), Morphology (2018), Painting & Sculpture (2019), and Color and Painting Techniques (2021).
Minoterie Pau – France (Flour mill located in Pau, France)
In 2021, Anastasie Akibode participated in a specialized workshop on etching techniques held at the Minoterie in Pau, France.
Manatee Art Center in Florida, USA
In March 2018, Anastasie Akibode attended an advanced and selective Watercolour Portraiture workshop led by renowned artist David K. Lobenberg. She is currently continuing her artistic development as a student of his online program, the California Vibe School, where she explores expressive watercolor techniques under his mentorship.
Tashkeel Art Center – Nad Al Sheba, Dubai
From 2008 to 2010, Anastasie Akibode underwent intensive drawing training under the guidance of Professor Lynn Rynner. Between 2010 and 2021, she actively participated in ongoing workshops at Tashkeel Art Center in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, focusing on Professional Practice, Print Screening Techniques, and engaging Art Talks. In 2021, she expanded her expertise through specialized sessions and online talks that explored emerging trends in the art world, including NFTs.
Dubai International Art Center (DIAC)
Anastasie Akibode has been a member of the Dubai International Art Centre (DIAC) since 2009, where she continues to participate in regular workshops across various art mediums, with a particular focus on watercolor and sculpture. In 2013, she was honored with the Merit Award for Painting by DIAC. Additionally, from 2009 to 2010, she served as a freelance watercolor teacher at the Art Talent Centre of the Dubai Ladies Club (DLC) in Jumeira. Her artistic journey at DLC began earlier, with intensive drawing and watercolor training at The Talent Center from 2006 to 2008.

Dubai Expo 2020
Anastasie Akibode actively engaged and participated in Dubai Expo 2020, showcasing her work at the United Nations & ZeeArts exhibition at the UN Hub, titled "Painting a Better World." She also conducted art talks at the Women Pavilion, aimed at empowering women artists. Her notable works include The Empty Plate and The Energy Flow, displayed at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, as well as a mixed-media painting featured at the UN-SDG #2. She also contributed a clay sculpture to an exhibition at the Armani Hotel and continues to participate in various artistic events, including the Ajman Al Murabbaa Arts Festival.
Solo Exhibition
Anastasie Akibode’s first solo exhibition, titled Wired Artistic Energies, was held at the Alliance Française Dubai. The exhibition featured a curated collection of 45 watercolor artworks and 10 sculptures, marking her transition from engineer to artist. It beautifully reflected her journey and artistic evolution, deeply inspired by the vibrant beauty of the UAE. The exhibition ran for six weeks, from April 12th to June 3rd, and was so well-received that its closing date was extended twice due to popular demand.
Notable Exhibitions and Artistic Engagements
Anastasie Akibode has exhibited her works at prestigious venues such as the Carousel du Louvre in Paris, showcasing Beautiful Arabia I, Beautiful Arabia II, and Arabian Sand-dunes in watercolor, as well as Metamorphosis in ink. She organized and actively participated in the first International Mauritius Art Fair, themed "Fostering Unity, Celebrating Differences," and conducted Little Picasso art workshops for underprivileged children in both Dubai and Tripoli, Beirut, at the House of Souvenir. Anastasie also participated in the FabrianoInAcquarello Symposium, exhibiting The Arabian Desert in watercolor and My Mum is Always Smiling, which was selected by IWS to be showcased at the Dubai Watercolor Symposium. Other exhibitions include The Beauty and Happiness in Liwa, at a group exhibition at The Retreat Hotel, The Palm Dubai, under the theme "Happiness," as well as Healthy Veggies and Green Apple in watercolor. She also participated in the 100 Years of La Grande Chaumière Paris Students Exhibition at DIAC, where she won the Merit Award, and the Tashkeel exhibition at Bastakya during Art Dubai. Additionally, Anastasie has been part of several group exhibitions at the Dubai International Art Center.
Art Connect Women (ACW)
Anastasie Akibode has been actively involved in the prestigious Art Connect Women (ACW) event, held annually at the Royal Mirage, Dubai, in celebration of International Women's Day (IWD). This four-day event aims to connect women from around the world through a large art exhibition and a conference at Dubai Opera. In 2020, the event showcased 100 artworks from 100 different countries. Anastasie’s contributions to ACW include the following works: Universal Face (Ink) in 2016, Tous au Théâtre (Acrylic, Mixed Media & Collage) in 2017, It is All about Me (Oil & Collage) in 2018, Rencontre (Watercolor) in 2019, and Empowerment (Watercolor) in 2020. The 5th edition of ACW is scheduled to take place from March 7-9, 2022.
Art Residency
Anastasie Akibode participated in an art residency at Art Hub in Liwa, followed by a group art exhibition showcasing the works created during her residency.
