Arwa’ M.K. Debaja is a ceramic artist from Amman, Jordan, and the founder of both Arwa Debaja Studio and Gilgamesh for Creative Arts. He focuses on unique Japanese pottery techniques such as Kintsugi, Kurinuki, and Raku, blending the Wabi-Sabi philosophy with traditional Middle Eastern clay practices. Through his handcrafted ceramic pieces and engaging workshops, Debaja explores themes of imperfection, resilience, and cross-cultural connection.

    Arwa holds a degree from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Damascus, Syria, a background that contributes to the precision and structural understanding evident in his sculptural ceramics.

    Arwa’ M.K. Debaja has showcased his work in several prominent exhibitions across the region. In 2025, He participated in World Art Dubai at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the UAE. He also exhibited at the JAFCA Symposium in Petra, Jordan in 2023, and at Darat al Funun in Lwiebdeh, Amman in 2022, highlighting his growing presence in both local and international art scenes.

    Arwa specializes in three distinctive Japanese techniques: Kintsugi – the art of golden joinery using 24K gold and lacquer to mend broken ceramics. Kurinuki – a traditional Japanese method of carving sculptural forms from solid clay blocks. Raku – a spontaneous, open-flame firing technique that produces unpredictable and unique textures. His work is deeply rooted in the Wabi-Sabi philosophy and centers on storytelling through clay, embracing the imperfect and the impermanent.
