Asad Azizi
- Asad Azizi is an Iranian textile artist born in 1983, based in Dubai. His practice centers on tufting, yarn dyeing, and contemporary fiber art, exploring texture, color, materiality, and the emotional qualities of textile surfaces. He is co-owner of Handmayk Dubai, a textile art platform, and serves as curator of the Textile Hub at World Art Dubai.
Short Biography
Asad co-founded Handmayk Dubai in 2016, building it into an artist-led textile platform specializing in yarns, textile art, tufting, dyeing, workshops, and artist collaborations. In 2025, he launched the platform's artist residency programme, focused on textile experimentation and contemporary fiber practices. In 2026, he took on the role of curator of the Textile Hub, a dedicated platform for contemporary textile and fiber art within World Art Dubai, and participated as a curator and artist at the Textile Hub at The Square, Nadd Al Sheba. As a participating artist, he has shown work at World Art Dubai from 2024 and at Dubai Design Week from 2023.

Artistic Style
Asad's practice moves between precision tufted compositions and what he describes as chaos tufting, an experimental approach that embraces unpredictability within the making process. Hand-dyed yarns, layered textures, and large-scale textile surfaces are central to his work, which investigates the relationship between traditional textile techniques and contemporary artistic expression. Texture, density, and movement are treated as primary expressive tools, giving his pieces a physical and tactile presence that distinguishes textile art from other forms of two-dimensional practice.
