About the creator
- Awad Mohammed Amayri is a Palestinian visual artist born in Syria in 1960, originally from the village of Al-Ja'una in the Safad district. Based in the United Arab Emirates, he has built a career spanning fine art practice, editorial design, and large-scale public murals. He is a member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, the General Union of Palestinian Fine Artists, and the Syrian Fine Artists Union, and is currently focused on his studio practice, working primarily with ink and acrylic.
Education
Awad graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University in 1990, specialising in Visual Communication.
Exhibitions
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions locally and internationally, including exhibitions organised by Palestinian and Syrian fine artists' associations and the 20th Annual Exhibition of the Emirates Fine Arts Society. He has also taken part in group shows across the UAE presented by federal and local institutions.
Artistic Style
Awad's practice is shaped by a grounding in visual communication, which brings a clear sense of composition and graphic structure to his fine art work. He works primarily with ink and acrylic, producing pieces that reflect his Palestinian heritage and the range of cultural environments he has lived and worked within. His earlier experience in editorial design, poster design, and large-scale mural execution continues to inform the visual discipline visible in his studio practice.
Additional Information
Between 2021 and 2023, Awad founded and ran Fan wa Fikra for Arts, a fine arts consultancy based in Kalba, Sharjah. He has maintained active memberships in professional arts organisations since the mid-1980s, having joined the General Union of Palestinian Fine Artists in 1985, the Syrian Fine Artists Union in 1991, and the Emirates Fine Arts Society in 2002.
