Faiza Bilgrami

Faiza R. Bilgrami is a multidisciplinary artist and textile designer with a B.A. in Textile Design from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and an MFA from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), London. Her work blends tradition with innovation, drawing inspiration from nature and the five senses. In one of her notable sari collections, she explores the parallels between human anatomy and the natural world—such as bronchioles mirroring leaf patterns or walnut grooves resembling brain folds—creating art that resonates both locally and internationally.

Bilgrami holds a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, where she laid the foundation for her design sensibility rooted in cultural heritage. • Artistic Style and Practice

Faiza’s work is a dynamic blend of tradition and innovation, often exploring the relationship between the natural world and human anatomy. Deeply inspired by sensory experiences, her pieces reflect a poetic balance of science and art. She is known for experimenting with unconventional materials such as tar coal (Bitumen) and petrol, which add a raw, industrial aesthetic to her paintings. Her exploration of these rare mediums highlights her commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. Alongside her fine art practice, she is actively engaged in sustainable design, collaborating with artisans to create handwoven products that bridge heritage craft with contemporary, eco-conscious design.
