About the creator

Farah Janmohamed

Farah discovered her passion for ceramics while growing up in the UK, beginning her journey with the potter’s wheel at the age of 15. From the start, working with clay became a deeply grounding experience—an intimate way for her to connect with both nature and herself. In 2013, Farah moved to Rome to apprentice under Master Ceramicist Daniela Vacca, where she learned the ancient hand-coiling technique. This method reignited her creative spark, offering a slower, more mindful approach to making. Through this process, each piece becomes a dialogue with the clay—intuitive, playful, and full of unexpected beauty.
  • Education

Farah holds a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University in the UK, where her scientific background deepened her appreciation for the physical and chemical processes involved in ceramics. Her formal artistic training began at Godolphin School in Salisbury, where she earned an A grade in AS Level Art. In 2013, she expanded her practice through an immersive apprenticeship with Master Ceramicist Daniela Vacca in Rome, where she studied traditional hand-coiling techniques and refined her artistic voice.

  • Exhibitions

Farah’s work has been featured in group exhibitions, including Global Encounters at Jubilee Arts in Dubai in July 2025. Her participation in such events reflects a growing presence in the international ceramics community, where her pieces resonate with audiences for their organic forms and intuitive craftsmanship.

  • Artistic Style

Rooted in both hand-building and wheel-throwing, Farah’s practice blends technical skill with a deep, intuitive connection to the material. She views working with clay as a conversation—one that invites slowness, attention, and play. Her artistic style emphasizes organic shapes, tactile surfaces, and a sense of calm, often emerging through techniques such as coiling, clay body preparation, and expressive glazing. Each piece reflects a quiet dialogue between maker and medium, grounded in both tradition and personal exploration.
