- Haneen Alsheikh Ali is a pencil portraitist devoted to uncovering the stories hidden within human eyes. Haneen Alsheikh Ali is a final-year architecture student at Hama University, Syria, recognized for her outstanding academic performance with the prestigious Al-Basel Certificate for Distinguished Students for achieving first place in her studies. Alongside her architectural training, she has been self-learning portrait drawing since 2011, developing a highly refined skill set rooted in observation, precision, and expressive detail.
Artistic Practice & Exhibitions
Specializing in pencil portraiture, Haneen’s work focuses on capturing the depth of human emotion through layered shading and intentional mark-making. She has participated in several local galleries in Syria, as well as the international art showcase Global Encounters Festival in Dubai (2025). Her practice bridges technical skill with storytelling, seeking the unspoken moments and emotional resonance within each subject.
Professional & Community Engagement
Haneen is actively involved in both artistic and community-focused initiatives. She has volunteered and participated in Pathway Camps in Syria (2023–2024), assisted at DOT ART Studio in drawing and painting, and taught art courses for children and teenagers at the Ismaili Local Center in Syria. Through these roles, she combines her creative expertise with a commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering artistic appreciation within her community.
