- HOEBAD (Emilygrace Angelie Lerio, born February 10, 1991) is a Filipina multidisciplinary creative based in the United Arab Emirates. She works across visual art, design, and sustainable fashion. Her practice explores identity, authenticity, and emotional experience, often connecting personal stories with broader cultural themes.
Education
She graduated Cum Laude from Far Eastern University, where her academic training supported her development as a multidisciplinary artist and designer.
Awards
HOEBAD has received several international recognitions. In the UAE, she won Grazia Middle East Project Modest (2018) and was recognized as an Emerging Designer by the Dubai Design & Fashion Council (2019). She also received two awards at the Warner Bros. EMEA Summit 2019 in Dubai for Product of the Year and Promotion of the Year. Earlier honors include the President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Award for Outstanding Achievement in Culture & Arts (2008), first place at the Youth for Human Rights International Art Illustration Contest (Los Angeles, 2007), first place at the United Nations Environment Programme Green Fins Poster and Slogan Contest (Bangkok, 2007), and selection for the Kanagawa Prize at the Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s Art Exhibition in Japan (2007).
Artistic Style
Her work centers on what she calls “Fleshscapes,” a visual exploration of body positivity, vulnerability, and self-awareness. Through surreal and abstract imagery, she connects mind, body, and emotion. Her art often blends fine art with sustainable fashion and reflects Filipino cultural heritage, migration, belonging, and the search for identity.
