- Emilygrace Angelie Lerio, professionally known as HOEBAD, is a Filipina visual artist and designer based in Dubai. A Cum Laude graduate of Far Eastern University, she has received multiple honors, including Grazia Middle East Project Modest 2018 and recognition as the Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC) Emerging Designer 2019. Her artistic practice delves into Fleshscapes. A visual exploration of body positivity, vulnerability, and self-awareness. Through both surreal and abstract compositions, HOEBAD creates thought-provoking works that connect the mind, body, and soul, transforming personal and collective experiences into vivid, emotional narratives. The name HOEBAD embodies her philosophy of truth and authenticity. Her art encourages viewers to find empowerment in vulnerability and self-acceptance. Blending fine art with sustainable fashion, Emilygrace integrates elements of her Filipino heritage into her work, reflecting on the duality of migration and belonging. Her creations speak to the universal search for identity, home, and authenticity, while honoring the rich cultural roots that continue to inspire her journey.
Awards & Recognitions
Emilygrace Angelie Lerio, also known as HOEBAD, has received numerous international recognitions throughout her artistic journey. In the UAE, she was named Project Modest Winner by Grazia Middle East in collaboration with Tryano and Yas Mall (Abu Dhabi, 2018), and earned two accolades from Warner Bros. EMEA Summit 2019 in Dubai — Product of the Year for the Touchmate Batman Notebook and Promotion of the Year for the Kwality Global DC Comics Ice Cream campaign. Her early achievements include the President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Award for Outstanding Achievement in Culture & Arts (Manila, 2008), First Place at the Youth for Human Rights International Art Illustration Contest (Los Angeles, 2007), First Place at the Green Fins Poster and Slogan Making Contest organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (Bangkok, 2007), and selection for the Kanagawa Prize at the 14th Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s Art Exhibition (Yokohama, 2007). Emilygrace Angelie Lerio, known as HOEBAD, continues to build an impressive international portfolio through her participation in diverse art and design exhibitions. In 2025, she joined the “SIKKA Platform x The Workshop DXB – Screenprinting Unlocked” Residency under the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Program (Dubai, Sept 22 – Oct 3), and showcased her work at “The 6th Carbafcoo Postcard Travelling Exhibition,” which toured from Dubai’s Ferment Artistry Upstairs (Sept 26–30) to Sakku Art Isfahan (Oct 31–Nov 4) and Didar Art Gallery Tehran (Dec 12–21). She also presented “Hoebad: Live Art & Art Showcase” at Monkey Bar, 25hours Hotel One Central, Dubai (Sept 20) and performed “Hoebad: Live Art at BODEGA” at Yanos on the Beach, Barasti Beach, Dubai Marina (May 31). Her works featured in multiple group and virtual exhibitions including the “5th Edition SAKKU Quarterly Virtual Exhibition” (Aug 10 – Sept 10), “127th ARTipunuan sa Barangay 127” for Philippine Independence Day at Dubai World Trade Center (June 1), and “Boundless” with Fil Arts Guild at Radisson Red Dubai (Dec 14 – Jan 11). Internationally, she exhibited and designed for “WOMAN: Her Life. Her Style.” in Osnabrück, Germany (Mar 8), “LA MODE EN MOI” in The Hague, Netherlands (Mar 27–28), and “MISSunderstood” with Girl Gang of Art Ph in Cavite, Philippines (Mar 15–22). As both Artist and Curator, she also represented at World Art Dubai 2025 with The Philippine Pavilion (Stand CA02) at Dubai World Trade Center (Apr 17–20).
