About the creator
- I am HouseBau, a Swiss artist, airline pilot, and jazz musician. I have been living in Dubai since 2012, but I have lived, created, and worked all over the world. Since my early teenage years, I have played jazz music and painted extensively. By the age of 18, I had participated in a few joint exhibitions in Switzerland, thanks to artist and gallerist friends. Soon after finishing school, I went to Africa, where I met my wife and soulmate. We spent over a decade there developing my artwork and flying skills. I refer to this time as the ‘African Period,’ during which I experienced and studied the simplicity and laws of nature, expressed in my early works. The next stages were Düsseldorf and Bruges, the ‘European Period,’ during which my work focused on simplicity, and I began the transformation towards abstractionism and symbolism. Moving on to Macao, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, the ‘Asian Period’ emerged, and a very specific technique with HouseBau evolved. The color studies of the Impressionists, the technical-mathematical approach of painters like Klee, Miró, and Kandinsky, as well as the integration of all aspects of art in groups like Die Brücke, Bauhaus, and Cobra, influence my work to the present. Exhibitions
House Bau's artistic journey spans across continents, marked by significant exhibitions and showcases. In 1984, his debut exhibition in Switzerland, organized by Beat Schütz, marked the beginning of his artistic career. Subsequently, he participated in the 'Open Air Art Show' in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1995, followed by the 'Wanderjahre' exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1999. In 2010, House Bau held a private showing titled 'Encounters' in Shekou, Guangdong, China, further expanding his global presence and leaving an indelible mark on the international art scene.
