About the creator

Jetrink Floyd ( Indonesian , b. 1963 )

Jetrink Floyd is an Indonesian painter born in Surabaya, East Java, in 1963, now based in Jakarta. His practice is built on naturalism, realism, and expressionism, developed through early study in Jakarta and later mentorship in Bali.
  • Short Biography

Jetrink Floyd was born in Surabaya in 1963. He began formal art study the following year, taking painting lessons at the British Council Library in Jakarta between 1984 and 1988. In the 1990s, he relocated to Ubud, Bali, where he worked as a painting and sketching specialist for the woodcraft producer CV One Song, contributing to the region's traditional woodcraft industry. During this period, he studied naturalism and realism under the Javanese painter Mr Dullah, an experience that shaped the direction of his later work. He now lives and works in Jakarta.

  • Exhibitions

Jetrink held his first exhibition at Sarinah Department Store in Jakarta, presented alongside fellow artist Mr Agumaya. He later showed a single work in a solo presentation at Bakung Sari Gallery in Kuta, Bali, in 1990.

  • Artistic Style

Jetrink's work moves between naturalism, realism, and expressionism. His naturalist paintings, including Balinese Legong Dance, Lady Liberty, and Sunset in Tanah Lot, Bali, are built on close observation of natural light and form. In more expressive works such as Legian Beach, Bali, and Barong Bali Classic Dance, he turns to the palette knife, using a complementary colour range to build depth, intensity, and vibrant light. Across both registers, his subjects remain rooted in the landscapes, dance traditions, and everyday scenes of Bali and Indonesia.
