Finding Color Again

In the 21st century, the world is full of images. Endless colors, endless styles. Yet many of them feel empty. We still echo Impressionism, and we still borrow from Fauvism, but where is the color that truly touches the soul?

Before painting became her language, she lived another life. A successful one. As a chairwoman in the corporate world, she achieved everything she was supposed to achieve. Titles. Stability. Recognition.

But behind the polished surface, she noticed something unsettling: quiet unhappiness. People moving forward, yet feeling disconnected. Lives full of structure but lacking meaning.

Painting did not come as a plan. It came quietly, almost accidentally. Like stepping into a secret garden hidden behind everyday routines. A space where time slows down and the inner voice becomes louder.

She chose intuition over precision. Emotion over perfection. Rejecting mechanical, AI-like techniques, she allowed color to lead instead of control. Through meditation and deep listening, she discovered what she calls soul colors, colors that are unexpected, intuitive, and healing.

These are not the colors taught in academies. They are not confined by rules or recognition. They exist beyond structure. Beyond logic.
They enter the viewer’s inner space gently, offering pause, reflection, and a sense of being.

In a chaotic century that pushes repetition and speed, her work invites the opposite: stillness. Inner dialogue. A return to feeling.
Through color, she seeks not to impress, but to reconnect.
To soften tension.
And to quietly awaken the soul.

Finding Color Again

About the creator

Joyce Ling

In the 21st century, many still linger in the colors of Impressionism and Fauvism, but where is the new color that touches the soul? My former life as a chairwoman in the corporate world brought me professional success but also made me witness the quiet unhappiness in people. An absence of meaning. I turned to painting unintentionally, as if entering a secret garden beyond daily life. Rejecting mechanical, AI-like techniques, I followed my intuition and discovered what I call soul colors. Intuitive, unexpected, and healing. These are not the colors taught in art academies, which often confine the spirit in favor of fixed recognition. Through meditation, I found that color can transcend this world. It can enter the viewer’s inner space and restore a sense of being. In this chaotic century, we need not repetition and rigidity, but a return to inner dialogue through color. A language that unravels tension and reawakens the soul.
