Maa.Hee
- Maa.Hee is the artistic name of Mahi Tawfik, an Egyptian illustrator and character designer born in 1988 and based in the UAE. Working across digital illustration, fine art print, clay sculpture, and felt sculpture, the practice is built through repetition and close attention to what each character asks for as it develops — intuitively rather than by design. The work prioritises encounter over narrative — a quiet, open moment between figure and viewer that leaves interpretation entirely to whoever is looking.
Education & Art Practice
Mahi studied at University of Toronto, Canada before developing an independent creative practice centred around character design. Her practice involves digital and physical character exploration focused on abstract and unreal forms, vivid colours, and playful experimentation. Current mediums: Digital illustration, Acrylic paintings, clay sculptures, felt sculptures.
Exhibition Participation
In June 2025, Mahi participated in the Small Canvas Art Show: 'Beauty in Unity', at the Dubai International Art Centre, recognised by the Talent Record Book for featuring the world's largest number of small canvases in a single show. She is also confirmed to participate in World Art Dubai in November 2026.
