- Maa.Hee is the artistic name of Egyptian illustrator and character designer Mahi Tawfik, born in 1988 and based in the UAE. She works across digital illustration, fine art print, clay sculpture, and felt sculpture, building characters through repetition and intuitive play rather than predetermined design.
Short Biography
Mahi studied in Canada before developing an independent creative practice centred on character design. In June 2025, she participated in the Small Canvas Art Show, 'Beauty in Unity', at Dubai International Art Centre, recognised by the Talent Record Book for featuring the world's largest number of small canvases in a single show. She is confirmed to participate in World Art Dubai in November 2026.
Education
Mahi holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Garment Construction Certificate from Coco Design Institute, Canada.
Exhibitions
Mahi participated in the Small Canvas Art Show, 'Beauty in Unity', at Dubai International Art Centre in June 2025, for which she received a Certificate of Participation. She is scheduled to participate in World Art Dubai in November 2026.
Artistic Style
Mahi's characters are not planned; they arrive through repetition and play, responded to as they take shape. Working across digital illustration, clay, and felt, she builds abstract and often unreal forms using vivid color and open experimentation. The work favors quiet intimacy over spectacle, leaving space for a personal encounter between character and viewer.
