About the creator
- As a mixed media artist, I combine a variety of materials and paints, collage, gouache, acrylics, inks, pastels, wood, and organic elements, to breathe life into my canvases. My work tells stories inspired by places I’ve experienced or emotional journeys I’ve walked. Each piece takes on a life of its own, inviting viewers to discover their own path within the narrative and interpret it in their own unique way, taking a little piece of the story with them.
Exhibitions
Monika Mayer has an impressive artistic journey, having studied at Edinburgh University and exhibiting her works in esteemed institutions such as the Royal Academy London during the 2015 Summer Exhibition and the Royal Scottish Academy from 2016 to 2018. Her first solo exhibition was held in September 2023 at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh, marking a significant milestone in her career. Most recently, her artworks were showcased at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Boomer Gallery in London in 2024, along with several other galleries across Scotland, both in-person and online. Monika’s exhibitions are a testament to her dedication to storytelling through her mixed media artistry, offering audiences a deeply emotional and interpretive experience.
