- Parveen Samnani is an Indian visual artist based in Mombasa, Kenya. With over seven years of professional experience, she works across visual arts, prop design, backdrop creation, resin art, and mixed-media works. She currently serves as a Specialist Art Teacher at Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, where she combines her personal creative practice with a sustained commitment to art education.
Short Biography
Parveen Samnani began her professional life in fashion design, working at Neha's Creation in Mumbai from 2000 to 2008, progressing from boutique manager to branch manager and developing skills in sketching and applied design. She subsequently redirected her career towards art education and studio practice, building a body of work across more than seven years that spans curriculum development, student mentorship, and hands-on creative production. Since August 2023, she has been based at Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, where she teaches visual art and coordinates student exhibitions and theatre productions. Alongside her institutional role, she has run private art tuition through Art in Me in Mombasa since 2017, preparing junior students for competitions across all levels. Her background in fashion, combined with her formal arts training, informs a distinctive breadth of visual disciplines across both her teaching and personal practice.
Education
Parveen completed her Senior Secondary education in 1999, followed by a Diploma in Advanced Fashion Designing from the Royal School of Fashion (1999 to 2000) and Higher Secondary education in commerce (2001 to 2003). She later completed a Level 3 Diploma in Arts from the National Institute of Fine Arts (2020 to 2021), and most recently undertook an Early Childhood Care and Education course through Helen O'Grady International and Creative Education Academy (2024 to 2025).

Parveen works across drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, resin work, and mixed media. Her practice reflects the breadth of her training and teaching experience, moving between traditional fine art techniques and applied creative disciplines. Her background in fashion design informs a sensitivity to form, composition, and material, while her ongoing work as an educator keeps her practice grounded in fundamental artistic principles and their communication to others. Additional Information
At Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, Parveen has organised student exhibitions including the ASK Show and in-school PYP exhibitions, and coordinated the visual production of the theatre production Aladdin,Maltida and The lion king, overseeing the painting of backdrops, props, and costumes. Through Art in Me, she has offered private art tuition to junior students since 2017. She also creates resin keychains as part of her personal creative practice.
