Raghad Elwali
- Raghad Elwali is a Sudanese multidisciplinary artist born in 2004, based in Dubai. Working across acrylic painting, graphic design, and mixed media, she creates works that explore culture, spirituality, and human experience. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Graphic Design at Curtin University Dubai.
Short Biography
Raghad began painting professionally at the age of around 15 and has since built a practice spanning fine arts, graphic design, branding, and fashion. She founded 'FRO', a Pan-African culture and arts magazine, which she edited from 2020 to 2022, and launched 4Visionaries, a streetwear brand, in 2023. In 2026, she founded The Mat7af, a cultural streetwear initiative. She holds a Diploma in Fashion Business and Entrepreneurship from FAD Dubai (2025) and has completed three commissioned acrylic paintings for restaurants in the UAE. She has been freelancing across design, branding, and fine arts since January 2026.
Education
Raghad attended AISJ (2019 to 2022) before completing courses at ICADEMY and Murdoch University in 2024, and Cardiff in 2025. She is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Graphic Design at Curtin University Dubai (2026 to 2029). She also holds a Diploma in Fashion Business and Entrepreneurship from FAD Dubai (2025).
Artistic Style
Raghad works across acrylics, pastels, charcoal, and digital media, combining painting and graphic design sensibilities into compositions that are dense, chromatic, and layered with imagery. Her visual language sits within pop-surrealism and neo-expressionism, drawing on her own cultural experience and encounters with different traditions. Recurring motifs across her portfolio include skulls, figures, eyes, and organic forms, embedded within highly saturated backgrounds that carry a street-influenced energy. Her work treats the canvas as a space for accumulation, weaving symbolic, figurative, and abstract elements together into scenes that reflect the complexity and plurality of her world.
Additional Information
Raghad founded 'FRO' magazine (2020 to 2022), a Pan-African culture and arts publication for which she served as founder and editor.
