- Shafiya Aslam Ahamed is a self-taught contemporary artist celebrated for her vibrant and expressive paintings, which draw inspiration from culture and her travels around the world. She masterfully merges vivid colors with intricate details, creating artworks that reflect her experiences and inspirations. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, she embarked on an artistic journey fueled by her passion for storytelling, blending her cultural roots and global travels into captivating pieces. When she isn’t creating, Ahamed enjoys traveling with her husband and two daughters, finding new sources of inspiration, and cherishing her role as both a mother and mentor.
Exhibitions
Shafiya Aslam Ahamed has showcased her work in several prestigious exhibitions across the globe. In 2023, her painting “And She Became Home” was displayed at the “Augustus” group exhibition at the Luna Grande Art Gallery in Istanbul. Her works have also been part of notable group exhibitions in Dubai, including the “Whispers of Love” collection in February 2024 and the 10th Edition of World Art Dubai in May 2024, featuring her artwork “Woman of Many Colors.” Additionally, her painting “The Road to the Red Carpet” was exhibited at the “Retro Revival” collection hosted by the Paramount Hotel in Dubai in June 2024. In October 2024, her works were displayed at the GCC Menopause Summit at the Museum of the Future, UAE. Upcoming exhibitions in 2025 include the prestigious Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, along with planned showcases in London and Madrid, further cementing her position as an artist of international acclaim.
Achievements
Ahamed’s work has received significant recognition internationally. In November 2023, she was a finalist in the Portrait Art Contest hosted by Teravarna Art Gallery in Los Angeles. Her art was also prominently featured on the iconic billboards of Times Square in New York City, a milestone that highlights her growing presence in the global art scene. She continues to push artistic boundaries, captivating audiences and sparking conversations through her innovative and expressive pieces.
