Sunitha Gopal is a contemporary realist artist, art consultant, and educator based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Her work explores cultural memory, heritage objects, animals, and the quiet presence of light through carefully structured compositions. She is the founder of SUNARTCAFE, an independent fine art studio and learning space that combines studio practice, teaching, and commissioned projects within an artist-led framework. Alongside her studio work, she currently serves as a Guest Lecturer / Adjunct Faculty at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai Campus.

    Sunitha Gopal is a contemporary realist painter whose practice combines fine art, education, and consulting. Based in Dubai, she works across painting and drawing while directing SUNARTCAFE, an artist-run studio that offers structured art education and mentorship. Her work often reflects cultural objects, animals, and carefully observed light, developed through a disciplined and research-based process. In addition to her studio practice, she teaches drawing, perspective, color theory, and painting as Guest Lecturer / Adjunct Faculty at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai.

    Sunitha Gopal holds an MBA in Operations Management from Manipal University, India, and a BBA in Business Administration from C. V. Raman University, India. She also earned a Diploma in Graphic Design from Cosmos Educational Institution in Dubai. Her earlier education includes Plus Two from Varkey International Private School, Dubai, and SSLC from Crescent English Medium School, Dubai.

    Sunitha has participated in several international exhibitions between 2021 and 2025, including both solo and group presentations across the United Arab Emirates, India, and Chile. Her work Silent Watch (charcoal on paper) was selected for the Paper Biennale 2026 in the Netherlands.

    Her recognitions include selection for Paper Biennale 2026 in the Netherlands. She was also shortlisted for Cycle 10 of the Masaha Residency at the Misk Art Institute in Saudi Arabia in 2025. In addition, she submitted a portfolio of works on paper for the JK Paper Award 2026.

    Sunitha’s work is rooted in contemporary realism and is characterized by careful planning, strong structure, and controlled light. She works across watercolor, oil, acrylic, charcoal, graphite, and pastel. Her subjects often include cultural and heritage objects such as doors, vessels, textiles, and architectural elements, as well as animal studies, particularly horses. Her process begins with research and observational studies, followed by careful structural planning to establish proportion, perspective, and tonal balance. The final work develops through layered execution, building form through calibrated values, refined edges, and controlled surface finishes.

    Sunitha is the Founder and Director of SUNARTCAFE FZE, a studio and structured learning space based in the UAE that offers workshops, courses, and mentorship for children, adults, and emerging artists. She previously worked as Creative Partner at Aurum Art House Painters & Calligraphers LLC in Dubai from 2023 to 2025, contributing to concept development and studio project workflows. Her teaching practice includes designing and delivering workshops in drawing, painting, and visual storytelling for schools and adult learners. She is also an Executive Member of The Guild in Kerala. From her base in Dubai, she continues to develop new realist painting and drawing series while expanding structured art learning programs and collaborations with galleries, cultural institutions, and design partners.
