- Um Kalthoom Al Alawi, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, draws inspiration from her specialization in microbiology, which has led her to explore forms, shapes, and repetitive patterns in her art. Al Alawi furthered her art career by earning another degree in visual arts, using the intersection of these two fields to evoke abstract ideas about life and growth. Her unique style reflects the balance between individual identities and social interdependence. At the heart of her work is a focus on unity, highlighting the human need for connection and social solidarity. Her work has been showcased in several projects by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture and selected for both local and international exhibitions.

Um Kalthoom has expanded her artistic horizons through participation in various workshops, including Geometry, Art of Illumination, Wood Carving, and Printmaking at the Prince’s Foundation School in London, United Kingdom, in 2022. Alongside her artistic pursuits, Um Kalthoom holds a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Al-Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, earned between 2004 and 2007.

Art Residencies

Additionally, in 2022, Um Kalthoom participated in the AlBalad Art Residency organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and operated by Hafez Gallery.
