- Veronika Obushikhina is a contemporary artist born in Russia. She has lived in Spain since 2010 and is based on the Mediterranean coast near Barcelona. She works in painting and video, using a deliberately reduced visual language.
Short Biography
Veronika was born in Russia in 1976 and moved to Spain in 2010. Before turning to painting, she worked in other creative fields, including jewellery making. That experience shaped the precision that now runs through her paintings. From 2023 she studied contemporary art and, in 2025, completed her studies at the Institute of Mediterranean Culture. Since then her work has been shown in Europe and the United States and has entered museum and private collections. In 2026 she was selected for the Biennale di Chianciano in Italy and named a finalist of the OSTEN Biennial in Skopje. She has also been selected for the Rome Triennale 2027.
Education
Veronika studied at the International School of Contemporary Creativity from 2023 to 2024. In 2025 she completed the Art Communication Online School by Julia Sysalova at the Institute of Mediterranean Culture.

Artistic Style
Veronika works with only a few basic elements: form, color, line and space. Her work asks how much an image can express when its means are pared back. She does not begin with a story or a symbol. Each work starts as a visual question: what shape a line can take, how color changes the way a form is seen, or how a few balanced elements can create a sense of space. For her, minimalism is a way of drawing attention to what matters most and letting form speak for itself. Precision is central to her process, a habit she traces back to jewellery making. A line that looks simple is often the result of hours spent adjusting angles, distances and proportions, sometimes down to the millimetre.
Additional Information
Veronika’s work is held in the permanent collection of the Chianciano Art Museum in Italy and in private collections in Europe and the United States. Since 2026 she has been working with Haven & Hue Art Consultancy on commissioned artworks for a residential villa project in Mallorca, Spain. In 2026 la Repubblica published a feature on her for the Biennale di Chianciano.
