- Waaris Hasan is an Indian artist born in 2003, based in the UAE. A Person of Determination with developmental delay and autistic traits, he works primarily in acrylic and has built a growing exhibition practice across Kuwait and the UAE. Through his work, he aims to inspire other Persons of Determination to pursue their passions independently.
Short Biography
Waaris completed his schooling at the Special Needs Section at Dasman Bilingual School in Kuwait, where his talent for painting was identified early and encouraged. He graduated with distinction, receiving both the Principal's Award and the Academic Award for Hard Work and Exemplary Behaviour. Between 2018 and 2020, he developed his skills further at ARTSPACE, an art gallery studio in Kuwait, where he explored abstraction, calligraphy, mixed media, oils, and sketching. After relocating to Dubai in 2021, he completed various art technique certification courses at Lotus Education in Dubai Knowledge Park. He has been part of Reem Art Gallery and Jamjar Studio in Dubai since 2023, and has participated in World Art Dubai in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
Exhibitions
Waaris participated in exhibitions organised by Dasman Bilingual School in Kuwait during his school years and has since shown work at World Art Dubai in 2022, 2023, and 2025, alongside various other exhibitions in the UAE.
Artistic Style
Waaris works primarily in acrylic, with a practice that has expanded to include abstraction, calligraphy, mixed media, oils, and sketching. His work reflects a sustained personal engagement with painting as both a creative discipline and a means of self-expression, developed consistently across formal training, gallery studio work, and independent practice.
