About the creator
- Yasmine Nina Benhalima is a French-Algerian painter born in Paris in 1996, currently based in Dubai. Her practice sits at the meeting point of color, emotion, and storytelling, drawing on a multidisciplinary background that spans economics, politics, and the visual arts. Her Parisian and Algerian heritage informs a distinctive visual language that merges cultural dialogue, human experience, and a deep sensitivity to color and form.
Education
Yasmine's initial academic background is in Economics and Politics; she holds a BSc in Economics and Politics from Queen Mary University of London and a Master's in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po Paris. She subsequently pursued art training, completing online certifications in History of Modern Art and in Contemporary Drawing and Painting at UAL Central Saint Martins in 2025, and French Fondation Orange.
Exhibitions
The Art and Calligraphy (2025) at The Design Gallery in Ras Al Khaimah. The Home in Common Exhibition (2026), at The Design Gallery in Ras al Khaimah.
Artistic Style
Benhalima's work places colour above all else, using vivid, emotionally charged compositions to translate inner states into immersive, dreamlike visual experiences. Her influences span Fauvism, Expressionism, abstraction, fashion design, and the architectural and calligraphic traditions of the Middle East. Within these references, she explores the interplay between color, movement, and visual storytelling, arriving at a language that is at once personal and culturally grounded. Her work invites the viewer to see the world through a lens of joy and optimism, without losing sight of its tensions and complexities.
Additional Information
Alongside her artistic practice, Benhalima works in business development within the technology and IT sector. Her dual background in economics and the arts allows her to bring both analytical and intuitive perspectives to her work.
