About the creator
- Yasmine Nina Benhalima is a French-Algerian painter born in 1996, based in Dubai. Her practice centres on colour as a primary means of expression, and she is known for compositions that translate emotional states into layered, luminous visual experiences. Having come to studio art after completing postgraduate studies in economics and policy, she has built a focused practice informed by dedicated art training at the University of the Arts London.
Education
Yasmine holds a BSc in Economics and Politics from Queen Mary University of London and a Master's in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po Paris. She subsequently pursued formal art training, completing certifications in History of Modern Art and in Contemporary Drawing and Painting at UAL Central Saint Martins in 2025, alongside sustained studies in colour theory.
Exhibitions
She has participated in two group exhibitions at The Design Gallery in Ras Al Khaimah: the Art and Calligraphy Exhibition in 2025, and the Home in Common Exhibition in 2026.
Artistic Style
Yasmine's paintings treat colour as both subject and medium. She works with bold palettes and layered applications, building surfaces where tones interact to evoke states of peace, joy, and quiet reflection. Her practice draws on the chromatic philosophies of Henri Matisse and Piet Mondrian, and her compositions balance deliberate structure with a degree of spontaneity. Abstract in character, her works function as visual records of emotional experience, shaped throughout by a rigorous engagement with colour theory.
