About the creator
- I am a self-taught visual artist from an Afro-Arabic background, with over 10 years of experience blending cultural elements and calligraphy to create a distinctive artistic style. My work seeks to revive traditional motifs by integrating them with contemporary concepts, aiming to establish a new art movement that tells powerful stories through paintings and eventually sculptures and installations. My unique perspective on art is also influenced by my background in network engineering, which has honed my approach to combining tradition with modernity. From 2013 to 2023, I served as the Gallery Manager at Mojo Gallery in Khartoum, Sudan, where I further refined my skills in creating conceptual masterpieces that merge graphic design expertise with cultural heritage.
Exhibitions
My artwork has been showcased in several prestigious group exhibitions across different countries, reflecting my growing presence in the art world. In 2023, I participated in the World Art Dubai group exhibition, where my work gained significant attention. Prior to this, my art was featured in "The Apartment" group exhibition in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2021. In Khartoum, Sudan, I have exhibited at various prominent venues, including the KICS International School (2019), Spanish Embassy (2019), Swiss Embassy (2018), British Embassy (2017), and the French Cultural Center (2016). These exhibitions have provided me with invaluable opportunities to share my artistic vision with a broader audience, contributing to the evolving dialogue around contemporary and culturally infused art.
Education
My artistic journey has been shaped by both formal education and practical experience. I completed a Calligraphy course from 2014 to 2015, which laid the foundation for my deep understanding and appreciation of this traditional art form. To enhance my technical abilities, I pursued a Drawing course from 2015 to 2016. These courses have been instrumental in developing my artistic style, allowing me to blend traditional techniques with contemporary concepts, all infused with the richness of my Afro-Arabic heritage.
