A Surrealist’s Kaleidoscope

Step into a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. A Surrealist’s Kaleidoscope invites you to explore the intersection of reality and fantasy through the captivating works of Birute Brandt and Samia Saleh. Both artists weave surrealism into the fabric of existence, offering viewers a journey into an alternate realm where the mundane becomes magical. Birute Brandt: Her vibrant canvases burst with life, transforming everyday scenes into whimsical narratives. Her exaggerated characters and playful colors challenge perceptions, inviting viewers to find beauty in the unexpected. Samia Saleh: Blending cultural narratives into the familiar, Samia’s works encourage us to uncover hidden symbolism within ordinary objects. Her art bridges tradition and modernity, leading viewers on an introspective journey. Together, Brandt and Saleh create a surreal experience that urges us to rethink reality and revel in the fantastical possibilities within the ordinary. The exhibition will open on October 12th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the warehouse located at Goshi Compound, No. 57, Al Quoz, Dubai.

Quote by Birute

"BOX questions our conceptual identity. As humans, we constantly seek our identities. Society creates many image boxes, compelling us to conform. Especially in these times, where we are overloaded with information and confronted with non-existing boxes, we don't always discern truth from falsehood. I'm intrigued by the idea of transcending the constructed box to experience a non-conceptual sense of self- being. Through this painting series, I was attempting to avoid identification and find comfort in not knowing who I am."

Birute Brandt

Birute Brandt loves to portray colorful characters, playing with personality and mood. Her inspiration comes from life's drama, subtleties, challenges, and beauty. She admires scenarios that are slightly mad or surreal. The body proportions in her artworks are often exaggerated, creating an ironic, gender-neutral, yet always aesthetic representation. Birute believes that her creative pieces and figures strive for dialogue; sometimes they evoke a smile, sometimes they bring calmness, and at times, they provoke contemplation about our existence.

Masterpiece By Samia

In my artwork, I aim to evoke the rich tapestry of stories and history woven into the fabric of Al Ain city. Through the imagery of a lady immersed in a book, nestled among the clouds, and adorned in traditional Emirati attire, I seek to convey the captivating feeling of being transported into the narrative of Al Ain's famed landmarks. Each street in Al Ain bears a name that carries with it a tale waiting to be unravelled, a piece of the city's vibrant past waiting to be discovered. Just as one loses oneself in the pages of a book, my artwork invites viewers to immerse themselves in the enchanting stories that reside within the streets of Al Ain, where every corner holds a glimpse into the city's rich cultural heritage
