“Free Fall” is a vivid abstract painting that invites viewers to explore the delicate interplay between nature and history. Built upon a foundation of textured gesso, the artwork incorporates pages from old books and leaves from various plants and flowers, subtly embedded into the composition like fragile memories caught in the wind. These organic elements, placed at random, mirror the graceful descent of leaves during the fall, capturing the fleeting beauty of autumn’s transformation. The painting’s composition is free flowing, embracing the unpredictability of nature and life itself. With each brushstroke, I sought to create depth and movement, layering paint over the textured base to evoke a sense of time and space. Multiple layers of beige, black, brown, and blue wash over the surface, adding dimension and mystery, while the embedded objects invite the viewer to consider their origins and the stories they carry. I loved to include objectd and elements collected from different places, each with its own unique story. These elements offer a tangible connection to the past, blending the physical with the abstract, creating a narrative that is both personal and universal. “Free Fall” is a reflection on the passage of seasons and the traces of life left behind.
