Item 1 of 4
Description
This painting represents Moira Clotho, the first of the Moirae sisters, who spins the thread of life. In my interpretation, it symbolises childhood and birth, a child whose “fate” is shaped by countless factors: genetics, character, family, and society. This piece is intrinsically linked to the painting Atropos (Old Age), where the thread continues uninterrupted, symbolizing the soul’s journey. In Clotho, the ball of thread does not appear spontaneously but is infused with the soul and wisdom that flows into it. The choice of pink and yellow is intentional, evoking joy, carelessness, and happiness, the vibrant world seen through a child’s eyes. The pose, reminiscent of an embryo, further emphasises the theme of the beginning of life
