Children carry on the collective memory of their ancestors, and enrich it by adding their own experiences to it. This painting is about remembering the heritage, respecting the past, but also reaching for the stars and not being afraid to push the borders. Many of the UAE’s achievements are known worldwide, and many are yet to come. Perhaps one of the children that is depicted on the painting is the one to design the new tallest building on the globe, or the first woman to go on an expedition to Mars. The children are presented not as people who need to learn about the world, but rather as the ones that will lead nations and sculpt the future. They are fearless, imaginative and strive for more. Some children say and do the most unexpected things, and have the most incredible ideas that an adult would never think of. They are bold, and curious to see what the universe has to offer. This is captured in the girl’s personality, she is a dreamer who knows what she wants and is not giving up. The boy’s character is a lot more reserved, thoughtful, a true mathematician. He is carefully adding sand blocks, making sure the “building” doesn’t fall. He is a visionary and finds inspiration in nature.
