Description
The Kambala dance, a tale from Nubian heritage, expresses courage, patience, and endurance. It is one of the traditional dances in Southern Kordofan, and the Nuba tribes are famous for it as a social tradition practiced in the fall and winter periods. The Kambala is also performed to celebrate a successful farming season and before weddings and other happy occasions. The Kambala has its own tools necessary to begin the dance, including the whip, which signals the start of the Kambala. It is believed that the dance occurs between September 1 and 15 each year, a specific time for the Kambala. According to tradition, it is said that the dance itself emerges on the evening of a specific day, making sounds on its own at the top of Sabouri Mountain, where the hut of Kujur is located.
